What is PEMF?

A different way to explore wellness support.

PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field. A device delivers brief, changing magnetic fields through targeted tissues. These fields can induce very small electrical signals in the body.

What may happen at the cellular level?

Researchers are studying how those signals may interact with cell membranes, ion channels, and the pathways cells use to communicate. In laboratory and condition-specific research, PEMF has been examined for effects on signaling related to bone and cartilage maintenance, tissue repair, and inflammation.

The response depends on the signal, the tissue, the device, and the person. PEMF is not simply “recharging” cells, and a proposed cellular mechanism does not guarantee a noticeable benefit. Clinical evidence is specific to particular devices and uses; results can vary.

We begin with your history and goals, then discuss whether this service may be an appropriate addition to your care.

Start with what brought you here

Let’s talk about how you’re feeling.

You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly which service you need. These are a few reasons someone may want to start a conversation about PEMF.

Everyday discomfort

You’re looking for a complementary option to discuss alongside your existing care for aches, stiffness, or musculoskeletal discomfort.

A recovery routine

You want to explore where PEMF may fit within a broader plan that includes appropriate medical care, movement, nourishment, and rest.

Personalized wellness

You’re curious about PEMF and would like an individualized conversation before deciding whether to schedule a session.

Your symptoms deserve appropriate evaluation. We’ll discuss suitability and realistic expectations, including when to speak with your medical provider first.

Two nurses. One shared vision.

Care that considers
the whole person.

I’m Kate Zink, RN, BSN, FNTP, founder of Chronically Holistic. My work brings together nursing experience, functional nutrition, and a personal understanding of living with ongoing health challenges.

I partner with Karen Brooks, RN, owner of The Well Cell, to connect clients with personalized PEMF sessions and additional wellness services.

Together, we value listening, clear communication, and an approach shaped by your history, comfort, and goals. We take time to explain your options and respond to how you feel.

Support at every stage of life

Age matters. So does the individual.

People of many ages ask about PEMF. The right question is whether a specific device and approach are appropriate for that person, at that age, for that goal. Research on adults or on one device cannot be assumed to apply to every age group or PEMF system.

For adults, some electromagnetic therapies have been studied for certain musculoskeletal pain and function concerns, with results that vary by condition and device. A conversation helps us review your goals, health history, and any precautions before you decide.

For children and teens, we take extra care. A parent or guardian should be involved, and we recommend checking with the child’s pediatric clinician and the specific device’s instructions before considering a session. We do not assume that evidence or settings for adults apply to children.

For older adults, comfort, mobility, medical history, and implanted or wearable devices may all matter. We’ll discuss these details and help you decide whether to consult your healthcare provider before booking.

PEMF is a complementary wellness service. It does not replace age-appropriate medical evaluation or treatment, and benefits are not guaranteed.

Supporting your foundations

There may be more
to your wellness picture.

PEMF is one service available through our partnership. If you’re also looking for help with nourishment, digestion, mineral balance, or sustainable daily habits, we can discuss nutritional therapy.

At Chronically Holistic, your plan may include food-first guidance, a review of your health history and lifestyle, and assessment options such as Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis when appropriate.

For those who want coordinated, ongoing support, our Guided Cellular Restoration program brings together nutritional therapy and PEMF sessions in a personalized three-month experience.

A few common questions

Before you book.

How many PEMF sessions will I need?

There is no single schedule that fits everyone. We’ll discuss your goals and response before recommending additional sessions. You can start by asking about an introductory appointment, current pricing, and package options.

What will I feel during a session?

The experience depends on the equipment, settings, and individual. Some people notice pulsing or muscle movement. Your practitioner will explain what to expect and check in with you. Let us know immediately if anything feels uncomfortable.

Is PEMF appropriate for everyone?

Suitability depends on your health history and the specific device. Tell us before scheduling if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, or have a medical condition that may affect participation. We follow the equipment’s safety instructions and may ask you to speak with your medical provider before proceeding.

Can I book PEMF without a nutrition package?

Yes. You can inquire about a PEMF appointment on its own. If you’re interested in combining services, we can also discuss an ongoing wellness program.

Where are appointments available?

Contact Kate about current availability in Bel Air and North East, Maryland. North East appointments are available through our partnership with The Well Cell at 32 S. Main Street, Suite 6. All visits are by appointment.
